How It's Organized

Private Schools

Utah has approximately 130 private schools across the state.  Although most are located along the Wasatch Front, there are several in rural areas like Garland and Ft. Duchesne. Utah has a mix of religious, non-religious, for-profit, and non-profit private schools serving a broad range of student needs and abilities.  In all cases, Utah's private schools must meet minimum safety standards. Many private schools are accredited by the same agencies that accredit public schools.

COSTS
Costs vary among private schools.  Yearly tuition may range from under $2,000 for kindergarten programs to up to $12,00 for prestigious high school programs.  In the 2006-2007 school year, there were over 75 private schools in Utah with tuition under $5,000 a year.  Most schools offer financial assistance to qualifying families.

TEACHERS
While specific qualifications and evaluation standards may differ between schools, private schools all seek excellent teachers.  They employ traditionally certified teachers as well as others with special skills and expertise in the subjects they teach.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Private school programs cater to a wide range of ages, abilities and needs.  As a parent, you can discuss with the school administration if the school can provide the educational environment your child needs to be successful.

HOW TO ENROLL
Each private school has a unique enrollment process.  Contact the school to find out how to enroll.
